# Breathability

Is named [breathability](/content/glossary/breathability/index.html) the movement of water or water vapor from one side of the fabric to the other, caused by [capillary action](/content/glossary/capillary-action/index.html), wicking, chemical, or electrostatic action. Also known as moisture transport. Is one of the parameters used to measure the wear-ability of a garment (especially in sportswear and outerwear).
