# Bourdalou

[Bourdalou](/content/glossary/bourdalou/index.html) is a type of hat-ribbon, finer than a [grosgrain](/content/glossary/grosgrain/index.html), round the foot of the crown of hats. This trimming is sometimes finished off with a [buckle](/content/glossary/buckle/index.html) and has been in use since the 17th century.
